Gender, Culture and Society: Selected Readings in Women’s Studies in the Philippines

The Asian Center for Women’s Studies (ACWS) at Ewha Womans University was established in May 1995 to provide a platform for the international exchange of Asian Women’s Studies knowledge production and practices through research and education. From 1997 to 2000, ACWS carried out the project “Women’s Studies in Asia: Knowledge Exchange, Theory and Practice” with feminist scholars from China, Taiwan, Japan, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand. Subsequently, the Women’s Studies in Asia textbook series was the fruit of this significant curriculum development project resulting from the strong collaboration with partner institutions from the above-mentioned countries. The publication of this curriculum development project was intended to provide a general overview of the history and development of women's studies in various countries. Critically written based on women’s lives in Asia, the textbooks have been read by not only Asian scholars and researchers but also non-Asian feminist scholars.
