It is about hawk with vision problems; he is almost legally blind but he refuses to let that keep him from achieving his dreams of being able to fly on his school competition team. This book also opens a discussion about athletic dads coping with a son that is perceived to be non-athletic. Harold, Horatio’s dad wanted a son hat could follow in his foot step and because of a physical condition Harold thought that Horatio would not be able to follow in his footsteps. It is also about coping being the different person on the block.
