Descripción editorial

This public domain book has 25,882 words. It was first published in 1842 in London.  Richard Hodgson, the author, used nearly half of the book to discuss Messianic Prophecies.  There prophecies were spoken and written in the Old Testament and then fulfilled by Jesus Christ in the New Testament

In the rest of the book, Hodgson considered the Old Testament prophecies and their fulfillments concerning some ancient countries and peoples.  Specifically he addressed prophecies and fulfillments regarding Nineveh, Babylon, Tyre, the Arabs, Egypt, and the Jews.

Lastly, Hodgson offers "Questions for Examination."  These questions are concerned with the last half of the book, and are a very good reminder of all that Hodgson discussed on those pages.

In 1842, Hodgson made an excellent effort to portray the biblical view of prophecy, namely, that such a view entails a real foretelling of future events.  This happened because God knows the future before is comes to pass (Isaiah 41:22, 26; 44:7; 45:21; 46:10).  It is also because God revealed His prophecies to His prophets (Amos 3:7), and they proclaimed them fearlessly.

This book was carefully reproduced using various old copies.  In as much as possible, the general layout of the old print copy was followed.  However, since two columns over many pages are incompatible with EPUB technology, these were reworked into one "column" using the author's original text.  Errors in Hodgson's text are marked by footnotes where Victor Vadney of Desert Willow Publishing makes annotations.  Other annotations are found at the end of Hodgson's text.
