J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Madeleine L’Engle, W.H. Auden, and hundreds of other writers, all credit the fantasy of MacDonald as greatly impacting their own work. Lilith is one of MacDonald’s final books and also one of his deepest.
