Passing On the Mantle

He bursts on the scene with little introduction, but with a burning passion and a God-given call that impacted the destiny of entire nations. The Bible identifies him as Elijah, the Tishbite, and he is forever associated with powerful proclamations, supernatural provision, resurrection of the dead, fire from heaven, power in prayer, and the double-portion anointing of a young man named Elisha.

In the Church today, we have sung about the “Days of Elijah,” we have talked about the double-portion anointing, and we have coined phrases such as the “Elijah Generation.” But if we are to really experience the double-portion anointing that God has reserved for us and pass it on to others, we must have a revelation of this prophet Elijah and his young protégé, Elisha.

Throughout the pages of this book, we will take a spiritual journey back through time. We will first follow in the footsteps of Elijah, as he stands boldly before Ahab and declares God’s judgment. We will sit with him at the brook Cherith and accompany him to the widow’s house. We will witness the supernatural provision of God in a time of famine and the raising of the dead. We will stand with him on Mount Carmel as the fire falls from heaven, we will travail with him in prayer, and we will experience his anguish as he flees for his life.
