When Adelaide, Lady Leeson learns that her illegitimate daughter, Charlotte, has run away from Miss Prism’s Ladies’ Seminary, she elicits the aid of charismatic Lord Purnam, to locate her.

Purnam, a notorious rake, discovers Charlotte at an inn, part way through a daring elopement with a man she is beginning to distrust, though she refuses to admit it.

Sparks fly when Charlotte resists Purnam’s attempts to kidnap her.
