Descripción editorial

A dictionary of those terms which specifically describe plants or plant communities, their habitats, their actions, and their products. In addition, I include terms relating to plants found in literature, or in mythology, or in religions, and even some confusing terms which seem to refer to plants but do not. Scientific terminology with respect to plant nomenclature, epochs, study disciplines and associated tools are part of the material covered. In lieu of a recent decision to effectively limit the plant kingdom to just what are (essentially) multicellular plants (in order to eliminate the algae from the kingdom), I take a wider view and include such organisms at the frontiers of the plant kingdom as: algae (both unicellular and multicellular), lichens (and their relatives the fungi), and the cyanobacteria (probably the first plants in our world). So this is a guide to the terminology of plants sensu lato. 9125 terms are defined.
