“The Secret Garden” by Frances Hodgson Burnett was first published in the year 1910. The first publication of the book was in the form of a serial. Eventually, it was published in the form of a complete novel in 1911.

It is considered as one of the most popular novels written by Burnett. The book has always been regarded as one of the classics of English children’s literature.

The book has been adapted into films and plays many times. The book describes the early childhood of the protagonist. It draws upon the author’s own childhood. Mary Lennox, the protagonist, like the author, experiences the death of parents and consequent reversal of fortune. She is taken away from the country of her birth to a foreign country.
