The greed to conquer the "Sierras de la Plata" preceded the Spanish: the Guarani tried to invade the empire of the Incas. They ended up settling in the foothills, becoming known as Chiriguanos. The fight against neighboring nomadic and fierce tribes, led the sdentarios, farmers and industrious Guarani to ally themselves with the Spanish, forming a common army that defeated the savage peoples of the Chaco plains. Unlike the Guarani, the first Spaniards had no interest in colonizing the region and developing production. His target was gold. However, it needed the autochthonous agricultural economy to supply the armies that fought the Guaicurúes and headed to the conquest of the mining territories of the west.
