A Look Inside
“To face that savage mountain of onrushing ferocity, to stand unshaken before the hideous fangs that he knew were bared in slavering blood-thirstiness, though he could not see them, required nerves of steel; but of such were the nerves of Carthoris of Helium.”
― Edgar Rice Burroughs, Thuvia, Maid of Mars
About the Book
Thuvia, Maid of Mars is the fourth book in the Barsoom series. This book shifts the attention of the series' main characters from the previous three volumes—John Carter, Warlord of Mars, and Dejah Thoris of Helium—to their son, Carthoris, prince of Helium, and Thuvia, princess of Ptarth. Carthoris and Thuvia were secondary characters in The Warlord of Mars, while Helium and Ptarth are two of the most important Barsoomian city states and empires. Its plot, which revolves around a Martian princess being captured, is similar to that of previous Martian novels.
