Already listened more then 5 times to this masterpiece
I listen to this audiobook almost everyday. Each time I hear something new that I didn’t hear before, even though its my fifth time going through the book. This book is made not to read it once and let it collect dust after. Its mend to be a kind of bible, a book you go through everyday. Soak in the wisdom, and let this book be a blessing to your ears.

I was disappointed
Rick Rubin seems to be an incredibly smart, experienced and skillful person. I really enjoyed listening to the interviews he did to promote this book. Sadly, the book itself seems to omit everything that makes Rubin so great to listen to.
The entire book is basically a list of “is” statements, or variants to that. “Art is…” “The job of the artist is/isn’t…” “Ways to find inspiration are…” “For some people it is effective to…”
There are no explanations, no ruminations, no anecdotes, no deeper thought to the statements. Just hours of Rubin going through these statements.
On top of that, a good part of the statements are worn-out spiritual expressions, or flat out clichés. When listening to someone as experienced as Rick Rubin, I expected something more than “some people have their best ideas in the shower, or behind the wheel” and “the best art is made when not worrying about commercial success.”
All in all a frustrating experience and a book that seems to have failed to translate Rubin’s great career and personality into something meaningful
