Another Grand National Recipe and Baking Contest is over! This year the 100 contestants traveled to Los Angeles instead of New York to participate in the Bake-Off.


What fun it was … 97 women, one man and two teen-age boys found their ranges in the Grand Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel and baked their prize-winning recipes. They worked in the glare of spotlights and popping flashbulbs, and answered questions of inquiring newspaper reporters and food editors.


Now we’ve baked and tested all 100 recipes in our Home Service Center Kitchens, written them in easy-to-follow Ann Pillsbury recipe style and assembled them in this book for you to try. We found many exciting new baked foods plus some treasured old family favorites.


Again this year we are featuring the descriptive index at the back. So turn to it right away, read the thumbnail descriptions and check the recipes you want to try first. Remember all recipes are adapted for use with Pillsbury’s Best Flour, the flour you can depend on for everything you bake.
