Back to the Cross is one of Watchman Nee’s clearest calls to return to the foundation of the Christian life: the finished work of Christ applied not only to our sins, but to our old man. With pastoral urgency and biblical precision, Nee distinguishes what the blood cleanses from what the Cross terminates—so that believers stop trying to improve what God has condemned and begin to live from what God has accomplished.

Moving from fact to faith to experience, Nee shows how spiritual progress is sustained: not by feelings, willpower, or religious effort, but by agreement with God’s verdict in Christ. He then opens the way of higher life and service, urging a priestly life of nearness to God, a sober identity free from sectarian pride, and a ministry governed by the Body rather than by independent ambition.

The final section addresses the reality of temptation and spiritual warfare, calling the reader to watchfulness, wholehearted consecration, and a Christ-centered standing in victory.
