Between Takes

On screen, Richard is a husband. Off screen, he has just stopped being one.

The divorce is barely final when he goes back to film the next series of the show that made him. Lizzie plays his wife. She is married, careful, and the woman he has been in love with for three seasons without ever telling her. Emma plays their daughter. She is younger, direct, and done waiting for a life the cameras will not give her.

Emma has a boyfriend. She wants a child, and she wants it from Richard. She cares for him. That is not the same as wanting him. Richard says yes anyway. What happens between takes is not in the script, and Lizzie still has no idea what he feels when the director calls cut.
