Lizzie's mother is dead.



Now, left in the care of her prim older sister, Lizzie fears her carefree, adventurous ways are over. But when tragedy strikes once more, she discovers a sinister web of lies and deception, of murders past and present, where fierce resentments and racial tensions boil beneath the illusion of civilization.
