Car Thief Caper

When their car is stolen, Ace and Mandi set out to find it. In addition to the hot blonde, Mandi, Ace is joined by a crazy mechanic named Jennilee and a sultry detective named Lopez. The foursome go on a crazy adventure chasing after that car all over the city, and they have to go up against the hottest crime boss in town, Regina Queen.

I walked into the kitchen and saw my dad sitting at the table sipping coffee. He had his back to me and I looked over his shoulder at the tablet in his hand as I walked up. I smiled when I saw he was playing a popular puzzle game. It was funny, considering the expensive suit he was wearing, and the fact that in less than an hour he’d be in a boardroom at the top of a skyscraper downtown discussing important corporate things at his job.
“Kindergarteners get higher scores their first time playing,” I said.
Dad put the tablet down, looked over his shoulder, and grinned. “You would know all about a video game, but I bet you haven’t the slightest idea what the markets are doing today.”
I took a guess. “Are they up?”
“You had a fifty-fifty shot,” Dad said. “And it was a swing and a miss.”
“Morning, Ace,” said a soft, friendly voice.
I looked toward the fridge and saw my dad’s girlfriend, Daphne, closing the door of the fridge with her hip. She looked pretty with her dark hair pulled back. She had on a white pair of shorts and a blue long-sleeved shirt, untucked. Dad and her had been together for eight months now, and I was thankful. She kept him busy, and totally revived him after the messy divorce from my mom.
“Let me fix you some eggs,” Daphne said.
“You don’t have to do that,” I said. “I was about to head out.”
“Ace,” Daphne said, walking over and putting her hands on my shoulders.
I didn’t like this. Daphne always did this right before she asked for a favor. It’s not that I didn’t like doing things for her, but this was my first day off of school in ages, and I was hoping to just relax and lounge around the house all day.
Dad nodded at me, telling me to answer Daphne with just a look.
“Yes, Daphne?” I said.
“Would you do me a favor?”
I knew it.
“Sure,” I said, knowing I had no choice at all in the matter.
“Amanda is coming to visit us and her flight is arriving in an hour. Would you be a dear and pick her up?”
I could think of a million things I’d rather do than pick up Daphne’s daughter, Amanda. We barely knew each other. She had been off at college when her mom and my dad met. I had met her though, briefly, and it was just awkward around her. She seemed like one of those know-it-all brainiacs, mousy brown hair, dork glasses, always wearing sweaters and long skirts. I just wasn’t sure I could get along with her.
“Ace, will you?” Daphne asked, squeezing my shoulders.
Dad put his tablet down and smiled. “Of course he will, Daph, it’ll be good for him, a chance for him and Amanda to talk and get to know one another better.”
Daphne squeezed my neck in a tight hug. “Thank you, Ace. Now, let me fix you some eggs.”
“Good man,” Dad said, grinning at me as he stood up, put his coat on, and headed out the door. “Bye, sweetheart!”
“Bye,” Daphne said.
“Thanks, Ace,” Dad said.
I rolled my eyes. “No problem.”
