Following a year of highly successful novels, Haggard published Colonel Quaritch, V.C. in 1888. The book tells the story of retired Army officer Harold Quaritch, who moves into his deceased aunt's home and is soon involved in a complex love triangle, treasure hunt, blackmail and attempted murder case. This is the second of the three-volume series.
