Cornish Bal Maidens

Bal maidens were the essential work-force above ground in the Cornish mining industry from the earliest times to WW11. At the peak of the industry in the C18th & C19th literally thousands of women were employed ‘dressing’ the ore. This short book traces their history from the earliest records 700 years ago.
