First edition with the correct listing and sequence of ads at the front of the book, but second state with the words "BY" on the title page, "LORING" on the copyright page, and the page # "109" all with battered type. Green cloth with blind stamped front and rear panels and gilt stamped spine lettering, border, and decoration. The volume is edge rubbed, with boards exposed at the corners, is abraded, worn, and chipped at the spine ends, and there is a 1 1/4" split at the base of the rear joint. The spine is lightly canted. The endpapers and pastedowns have tide marks at the top edge, and are lightly soiled.
