This eBook is an introduction to phytoplankton, the tiny microscopic plants in the oceans and are at the start of marine food chains. The story is told through the phenomenon known as Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs), where a few of these plants can produce toxins or else grow to such high levels they affect water quality. The eBook contains chapters on plankton, HABs, eutrophication, climate change and observing oceans through satellites and the eBook is suitable for people of all ages, although it is targeted to teachers and secondary school Science students.
