Publisher Description
Action in the district court for Scott county to recover damages for disfigurement suffered by plaintiff as the result of an explosion in the course of her part-time employment as a waitress by defendant John G. Andrist on premises rented by him from the defendant William Beckman. The case was tried before Joseph J. Moriarty, Judge, and a jury. At the close of the evidence the court granted the motion of defendant Beckman for a directed verdict, and the jury returned a verdict for plaintiff against defendant Andrist for $3,577.80. Plaintiff appealed from an order denying her motion for a new trial as to defendant Beckman (No. 34,727), and defendant Andrist appealed from an order denying his alternative motion for judgment or a new trial (No. 34,723).
