Intraabdominal Infections

Intraabdominal infections represent one of the greatest therapeutic challenges. These disorders mainly include all the forms of bacterial peritonitis, intraabdominal abscess and infection of intraabdominal organs. This wide range of pathologies results from the ability of certain bacteria to take advantage of the conditions of the host and they may range from being only contaminant to causing infections of different degrees of severity. Knowing how they are developed, the major clinical manifestations, their prevention and adequate treatment is of great interest both for general practitioners and for specialists. In this edition we are presenting a review of the latest concepts on this interesting, though not widely spread, corner of medicine and surgery.
