“People say a broken heart can kill, but it’s really the secrets that take you down.”
~Alexander Rockingham II
Alexander Rockingham once had everything. All-consuming love from two lovers, a bright future ahead of him, connections and contacts. But death has a way of sneaking inside and stealing futures when it’s least expected.
After his beloved Charles died alone inside his family’s mansion, and Rebecca, their fragile submissive, disappeared behind its tall gates, Alexander was locked out, and left destitute and alone.
Now decades later, wealthy beyond compare, he’s given a chance to dismantle the cruel empire that once stole everything from them.
As his plans unfold, he didn’t expect to find Rebecca again—and he certainly didn’t expect to fall back in love with her. But only when a third joins them—Eric, a man who has pined for Alexander from afar for years—do they finally lay the ghosts of the past to rest.
Or at least until Rebecca’s forty-year secret comes out and threatens to tear it all apart.
Invincible is a M/F/M and M/M/F standalone novel in the Elite Doms of Washington Series. Readers who love Joey W. Hill, Cherise Sinclair and Shayla Black will enjoy this story.
Klantrecensies
A Polyamorous BDSM Love Triangle (MMF).
Elizabeth Safleur, ‘Invincible’.
An Elite Doms of Washington, book 6.
As an Hidden Gems ARC reader I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily promised an honest review. Here it is.
Rating: 3 (of 5 stars).
In general: A polyamorous BDSM triangle (MMF).
Main characters:
- Alexander Rockingham (60).
Now the wealthy owner of the luxury, exclusive BDSM club ‘Accendos’ in Washington D.C.
Forty years before he loved Charles Wynter and Rebecca Beaumont. They lived together in San Francisco. Charles got ill. His mother, Alice Wynter, forced him to go home to the East Coast where his society family lived on an impressive estate. There he died. Alice (who hated bi-sexuality) refused Alexander to say goodbye to Charles on his deathbed. She wrongly blamed Alexander for the death of her son and prevented Alex also from attending the funeral.
Alexander swore to buy the estate whenever he could do so.
- Rebecca Beaumont (57).
‘Becca’ was adopted by the Wynters when her parents died. When she was seventeen years old she was the lover of her bi-sexual friends Charles and Alexander.
After Charles’ death she was blackmailed to never see Alexander again. Under the pseudonym Anne Broadmoor she became an author writing about her travels around the world.
- Eric Morrison (48).
Art dealer, who is invited by his BDSM club friend Alexander to deal with all the art in the Wynter estate Alexander bought after the death of Charles’ mother. Eric secretly has a crush on Alexander.
After buying the Wynter estate from Charles’ elder brother (and heir after the death of Alice Wynter), Rebecca visits Charles’ grave for the last time; she meets - after 40 years - Alexander again and is introduced Eric, who makes an inventory of the art present in the estate.
Then the author, Elizabeth Safleur, describes with much insight how the three step by step fall in love. Building their love triangle is complicated: Alex and Becca incompletely processed the death of Charles, there are the wicked manipulations of Charles’ elder brother and the long separation between Alex and Becca for 40 years (for me difficult to believe that the wealthy, powerful Alex didn’t find her) impedes a new relationship. The author treats almost all these complications in a credible way. But finding pleasure through dominance over a partner or causing pain, however consensual, isn’t my cup of tea.
I don’t know enough of BDSM to give an opinion about how the author describes these scenes but I can imagine that those are interesting for the enthusiasts.
