Custis Long’s riding with a shiny new deputy, so puffed up and green that Longarm can’t resist calling him “Jimmy the Kid.”  But when they attempt to capture the Dekins gang, an exploding pocketbook grinds the Kid’s face to hamburger, and leaves Longarm trapped under his horse with a broken leg.  Now Longarm is on crutches, but they’re still hot on the gang’s tail.  Together they may add up to just three-quarters of a man—but one fuming mad fighting machine…
