From humble beginnings to becoming a medical practitioner, Peter Desmarais relates his experiences as a kid with a chemical laboratory in his bedroom where he would operate on frogs, his hilarious experiences as a hospital Houseman, and his first few years of general practice. A patient is set alight in her bed, Peter is trapped in the toilet with a patient and a colleague is defibrillated! We follow his story from childhood dreams to medical practice tribulations!

Peter Desmarais graduated M.B, Ch.B at the University of Pretoria South Africa in 1971. He relates the funny side of his experiences at medical school, his internship at Addington hospital Durban and the first few years of his life as a general practitioner.He is presently an ENT surgeon in private practice in Umhlanga Rocks, South Africa. He is married with six grown up children two of whom are stepchildren.
