Predicting Academic and National Board Dental Hygiene Examination Performance Based on Academic Factors (Research‪)‬

Introduction The annual selection of students is one of the most difficult and important activities for admission committees in dental hygiene programs across the country. At the time of this investigation, there were approximately 265 accredited dental hygiene programs in the United States. Although preadmission requirements differ among schools, each school faces the complex task of selecting students who they predict will succeed in their program. Studies indicate that students who are better academically prepared will perform better in health-related programs and are more likely to pass credentialing exams. (1)
