Kit survived her abusive husband. Survived imprisonment and beatings from the Patriot Zealots. Now free and healing, she can make a new life for herself and her son…except he has attached himself to a terrifying, scarred, tattooed ex-mercenary.
Women take one look at him and flee.
An ugly childhood and combat left Hawk with scars, a rasping voice, and an aversion to talking. So, why in hell does the four-year-old stick to him like glue?
The kid’s pretty mother is smarter. There’s fear in her eyes when she looks at Hawk. That hurts. The sweet woman is everything he’s ever wanted—loving, affectionate, and patient. But after what she’s been through, she sure won’t want to be around men—especially the one who killed her husband.
He’d saved her.
Kit agrees with her son. Being near Hawk is the safest place on earth. Beneath the menacing appearance, he’s protective…and kind. The better she gets to know him, the more she sees him as a man—a very sexy man. But, considering what had happened to her, she knows—
No man would want her now.
Rescue really lives up to it’s name!!!
The Alaskan town of Rescue sure lives up to it’s name in this last story of the tóó short series!
Mako’s sons have to deal with those PZ “pissers” again,to make sure their latest additions to the small family are safe.
Because Kit and her little boy Aric need them, but mostly Hawk,to…
Kit was in a very bad shape when she,Aric, and all the other women and children were saved, and needed time in hospital to recover.
Aric did what she told him to,he clung to Hawk, knowing he was the one to keep him safe.
And Hawk, even though he was worried he’d do something to harm the kid,was só good to him!
Protected him, guided him,and gave him the support he so badly needed.
Because at one time,Hawk was a little boy like Aric, one that lived through abuse, too.
Not that he’ll ever talk about that…or admit he’s secretly worried he’ll turn into his father,no way.
And even if he admires Kit,for doing her best to be strong, for being the caring mother Aric needs, for being the caring person she is,he knows she’s not meant for him….
Kit is slowly recovering from her injuries, but her mental recovery has it’s ups and downs.
Stupid things can set off a panic-attack,no matter who or what it is.
If not for her bestie and her family,if not for Hawk, she wouldn’t have known what to do,or where to go….
Hawk is her rock, the one that is always there, patiently helping her and Aric.
She sees the sweet man behind the walls he’s put up,she sees the caring and careful way he treats her little boy.
Showing her, without words, that he’s allowed to be the boy he is without something bad happening.
The gentle way he treats him,ánd her, works it’s way into her heart.
And knowing this time she’s free to make her own choice, she chooses him,if he’ll have a damaged woman like her…..
If only those damn pissers weren’t still lurking around, trying to get revenge….
Trying to hurt her for exposing their organization ,and even getting their leader arrested.
Do Kit and Hawk get a chance at happiness?
Can Hawk lower his walls enough to let this sweet woman in?
Can she overcome her triggers, and enjoy the touch of this wonderful man?
Or will those pissers succeed with their evil plans?
I loved spending time in Rescue, with Mako’s sons and their families.
And knowing where they are now,it’s ok to say goodbye….even though i really want to stay a little longer!
