Brought to you by Penguin.
Dying isn't any fun...but at least it's a living.
Mickey7 is an Expendable: a disposable employee on a human
expedition sent to colonize the ice world Niflheim. Whenever there's a mission
that's too dangerous-even suicidal- the crew turns to Mickey. After one
iteration dies, a new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact.
Mickey signed on to escape from both bad debts and boredom on Midgard.
After six deaths, Mickey7 understands the terms of his
deal...and why it was the only colonial position unfilled when he took it.
When he goes missing and is presumed dead at the hands of
deadly indigenous creatures, Mickey8 reports for duty, and their troubles
really begin.

The most mundane piece of interesting writing
It starts great. It sorta keeps being great, and then it stops being great and kinda becomes a bit mundane and not thought out. What I mean is that the concept of the book alone is great, but as it progresses it seems to leave it behind. We are left with a dozen plot lines where some just aren’t explained properly in the end, and some seems to be resolved at random. We are mostly left with a lot of descriptions of hunger, a lack of food and the horror of the cycler, though none of the characters seem to actually want to think of a decent plan to actually fix the problem in any serious way. Instead we are also left with some worrying depiction of the books female characters, and a Deus Ex Mickey resolution to every other problem the book has built up.
On another side the narration is decent, though it never goes beyond its initial blurb, and at worst is just forgettable.
