Plato: The Complete Works

Plato was a Greek philosopher. He established the Academy in Athens, the first university in the Western world, and played a crucial role in the growth of philosophy, particularly the Western tradition.

Philosophy, logic, ethics, rhetoric, religion, and mathematics are just a few of the subjects that have been (and continue to be) taught using Plato's dialogues. Among his enduring themes are the five regimes, the theory of forms, Platonic love, and innate knowledge. His idea of forms gave rise to a distinctive viewpoint on abstract objects and the Platonist school of thought.
