Bite Me If You Dare

VALENTINA

Being a succubus sounds glamorous until you realize no one looks at you without imagining you naked. Just once, I'd like to be wooed instead of craved. Is that really too much to ask? Apparently so, because on Halloween, something goes awry, and a perfectly ordinary morning ends with half the town declaring their undying devotion and brawling over me on Main Street.

Even worse?

Alistair Drake shows up. The one vampire in Eternity Falls I actually want to notice me—and the only one who seems completely immune to my charms.

Figures. At least his immunity has one advantage. He can get me somewhere safe while we figure out what the hell is going on. And maybe, while we're at it, I can finally find out whether that infuriatingly proper vampire is immune to me or just exceptionally good at hiding his feelings.

ALISTAIR

I've spent centuries learning how to keep my head around supernatural charms. Glamors, compulsions, enchantments—I've faced the lot. So when Valentina's powers spontaneously send half of Eternity Falls into a lovesick frenzy, I'm about the only man who can get her to safety without losing my damned mind. Mostly. What Valentina doesn't seem to understand is that resisting her magic and resisting her are two entirely different matters. I've simply had the good sense to keep my hands to myself. Thus far.

Trouble is, Valentina's had her fill of men who only want one thing from her. She wants flowers. Proper courtship. A fellow who gives a damn about her instead of what she can do for him. And seeing as I've been sweet on the woman for years, I figure it's high time I showed her I'm just the vampire for the job.
