Publisher Description

‘Reginald Hill stands head and shoulders above any other writer of crime fiction’ Observer

When Geraldine Lomas dies, her huge fortune is left to an animal rights organization, a fascist front and a services benevolent fund. But at her funeral a middle-aged man steps forward, claiming to be her long-lost son and rightful heir.

He is later found shot dead in the police car park, leaving behind a multitude of suspects. And Superintendent Dalziel and Peter Pascoe find themselves plunged into an investigation that makes most of their previous cases look like child’s play…

Child`s Play

A formidable understanding of human nature, written with wit and a prosa so real it feels like you are close friend with his characters Dalziel, Pascoe and Wield. The author sweep the ballroom dancefloor graciously with clever step-kicks to institutional as well as individual ignorance on topics of high importance with wisdom. The only sadness in retrospect reading his collection again is the knowledge that he will not write new stories to entertain yes, but also remind me of what is important and whats not in life. The end of this novel is just brilliant! Highly recommended Author! Kikki, Norway
