explores the complex interplay between power, revenge, and emotional healing
3 stars
In this sequel, the plot picks up from where it left off in the previous book. Unfortunately, too little action happens in this book for it to reach the level of its predecessor.
Makoto, who has recently become a vampire, is now more powerful than his former bullies, and he must navigate the complicated emotions that arise from this newfound strength.
As Makoto becomes more connected to his vampire nature, he also becomes more disconnected from humanity. This creates a sense of isolation and alienation from his former classmates, who cannot understand what he is going through. Despite this, Makoto still feels a sense of longing to connect with others and to find a sense of belonging.
In my opinion, Makoto's relationship with his former bullies is the most fascinating part with this book. Their relationship is complex and emotionally charged. As Makoto grapples with his newfound powers and his own emotional turmoil, he must also confront the demons of his past and find a way to move on, and I believe this adds depth and nuance to the story, as it explores the complex interplay between power, revenge, and emotional healing.
