Judgment Day

It is the summer of 999 AD, only six months before Judgment Day. Sir Tristram of Cornouaille’s life transforms when Papal soldiers attack his castle, murder his wife, mutilate him, and leave him for dead in the castle moat. He is found by the beautiful Lady of the Lake and her three children. She restores him, on condition that he becomes her near-immortal Knight Sans Merci, the Merciless Knight. Tristram agrees – he’ll have a life again. 

Then, Tristram is unable prevent the Lady being taken prisoner by the evil bishop of Auxerre. During the Lady’s witchcraft trial, Tristram is tempted by the bishop, which she sees as a second failure. She takes away his powers as the Knight Sans Merci.

Filled with remorse, Tristram rescues the Lady of the Lake and her children. He expects to be reinstated as Knight Sans Merci, but she refuses. Tristram faces a return to a life with no nose, no lips, no arms, and his great love raped to death.
