"I am one of the dwindling number of so-called "Atomic Soldiers" who provided support for the nuclear bomb tests at the Nevada test site in the 50s. While there I witnessed numerous above ground "shots" and, unlike thousands of my fellow soldiers, I have lived to tell about it. My dad died two months after I entered the army and I started writing letters to him, which was probably my way of coping with losing him. I am now seventy-six years old, and I still write to my dad.
