Publisher Description
Neoconservatism: Why We Need It, by Douglas Murray, New York: Encounter Books, 2006. 247+xxiii pp. THIS BOOK IS A PAEAN to neoconservatism and an unabashed defense of its leading lights who were (and may still be) prime movers in forging our post 9/11 foreign policy including, most notably, our invasion of Iraq. What is more, its author--unlike some neoconservatives who played leading roles in pushing for the Iraq war and who are now jumping ship--remains steadfast in his support for the war, as well as for the more comprehensive Bush Doctrine that embraces and justifies preventive wars and "forceful interventionism" as a means to eradicate evil and realize the universal yearnings for "liberty" and "liberal democracy." In sum, Douglas Murray is a true believer.
