The Essence of Ezekiel

Ezekiel is a colourful prophet. Living among the exiles in Babylon, he is transported by the Spirit from one place to another. He sees visions of  heavenly things beyond the realm of human understanding, and acts out his message in visual mimes almost beyond human endurance.

 

Chapters 1-34 are devoted almost entirely to condemnation and scenes of judgment against Israel for their sins, primarily that of idolatry. However, pride of place is given to chapter 37 where Israel’s revival and restoration are depicted. This is certainly the high point of the book.
