The Secret Diaries of Hemiunu

Architect of the Great Pyramid of Khufu

Publisher Description

The Secret Diaries of Hemiunu is a modern architect’s imagineering of the life and times of Hemiunu, reputed to be one of the architects of the Great Pyramid of Khufu, c.2566BC. Hemiunu’s diaries, from some four and a half thousand years ago, are discovered by modern tomb robbers, and end up in Paris, where the diaries, which are in a poor state, are translated with difficulty. They describe Hemiunu’s upbringing as a royal prince, his schooling, brief encounters with the opposite sex, apprenticeship as a royal architect under his father, engagement and marriage, and his early success with pyramid building. Oh! and his dreams - it seems he was a prophetic dreamer…which turns out to be very useful.

Everything seems to be going well for Hemiunu until his grandfather King Snefru dies unexpectedly, and the new king, a middle aged, corpulent Khufu comes to the throne. He dislikes Hemiunu, who escapes from his clutches by making a royal progress up the Nile. While away, Hemiunu continues with his secret design of Khufu’s pyramid, which is described in his diaries. And Hemiunu is the only one who knows how to build it; Khufu needs him. So, the chase begins, with Khufu’s agents trying to find and apprehend Hemiunu. Meanwhile, Hemiunu is learning medicine and healing, magic and numerology, astronomy, theology, mathematics and even psychology - all of which he is going to need if he is ever to build the Great Pyramid for his King Khufu. Court intrigues, murder in the harem, and ancient magic - it’s all there, in the Diaries…along with how the pyramids were built, why their sarcophagi are found empty, where the royal mummies might be, what is at the end of the ka-passages, and even how the Great Pyramid was to be a psychic projector, the only machine of its kind in history.
