Freckles

Raised in an orphanage, knowing only abuse, struggle, and isolation, Freckles makes his way from Chicago to the Limberlost Swamp in Indiana. There he finds kindness in Mr. McLean, who hires him to guard the prized timber lot from thieves and other dangers. Freckles begins to earn a reputation as loyal, hard-working, diligent, and strong. However, he still feels unworthy of love or genuine kindness due to his past - which he believes must have been shameful due to his abandonment and disfigurement. Through the love of a beautiful girl in the swamp, Freckles begins to hope for a brighter future and finds someone to truly care for and protect.
