Why are Max and Royce's vacations so deadly?

When Dr. Maxwell Thornton’s Malibu beach house is burgled, he sees a silver lining—the perfect excuse for a sun-soaked romantic getaway with Sheriff Royce Callum, the man who’s stolen his heart and shown him what love is supposed to feel like.
