New Zealand writer Hannah Tunnicliffe (The Colour of Tea and Season of Salt and Honey) channels her wanderlust and love of food into her novels. A French Wedding is mostly set in a small village in Brittany, where a group of friends gather to celebrate their rock-star mate’s 40th birthday. Tunnicliffe paints vivid portraits of the various characters: their secret yearnings, glaring flaws and steady affection for each other. We loved reading this novel at the end of a long day, losing ourselves in the drama and delicious descriptions of French cuisine.
