A Noble Woman: The Life-Story of Edith Cavell: World War 1

Edith Cavell was a British nurse who is known for her brave actions during the first world war. She is celebrated for saving the lives of soldiers from both sides of the fighting without discrimination, and in helping 200 allied soldiers escape from German occupied Belgium. For this, she was arrested, accused of treason and found guilty by a court martial. Although there was wide international condemnation, she was sentenced to death by firing squad - an order which was carried out, even when under international pressure from governments and press.
