A STUDY IN SCARLET

Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle (1859 – 1930) was a Scottish writer and physician, most noted for his fictional stories about the detective Sherlock Holmes, which are generally considered milestones in the field of crime fiction. He was a prolific writer whose other works include fantasy and science fiction stories, plays, romances, poetry, non-fiction and historical novels.

A Study in Scarlet is a detective mystery novel written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. This is a novel where Doyle firstly introduces his new characters "consulting detective" Sherlock Holmes and his friend and chronicler, Dr. John Watson, who later will become two of the most famous characters in literature world referring to detective genre. The story itself was written in 1886 and didn't attract huge auditory, but only after following stories and adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, A Study in Scarlet appeared as the best beginning novel in series of Sherlock Holmes.
