From the uniquely coloured beaches, lush forests, sculpted waterfalls, rare plants and even rarer wildlife, this book will explore the influence of the geology on the formation of Abel Tasman. 

It is also a journey – not only along the well-known Abel Tasman Coastal Track, but also up the lesser-known Inland Track. This book is structured around a tramper’s hike from Marahau to Totaranui during the warm summer months. Each chapter will open with a journal excerpt from this journey. From the forest to the waterways to the beaches to presence of humans – it all comes back to the hard stuff underneath.
