Star-crossed prince


Abhimanyu was the brave teen-age hero of the great Mahabharata war. He was son of Arjuna from his wife Subhadra who was Krishna's sister. Abhimanyu was thus heir to the best warrior qualities from two lines of heroes. Besides Krisha and Arjuna he was the only one who knew the way to break open the circular army formation. In a critical hour during the war, this teenager came forward to assault the Kauravas' circular formation. Much against the rules of war, the elders allowed him. He broke into it, fought bravely the many seniors on the enemy side but finally succumbed to their unfair attacks.
