Apprentice to the Wicked Witch

"When a lonely middle school girl bar-gains with the town's feared witch to save a dying classmate, she becomes the witch's apprentice and must learn whether magic is a tool for healing, revenge, or something far more dangerous before she inherits the witch's legacy."

Everyone in town knows Agnes Willow is evil.

She's the wicked witch who lives beyond the meadow, deep in the woods. People blame her for bad luck, broken bones, dead livestock, and every strange thing that happens in town. Nobody visits her.

Until Catlin Berkshore does.

Desperate to save Julee, a classmate lying unconscious in the hospital, Catlin makes a bargain with the witch: a life for a life. In exchange for Julee's recovery, Catlin must become Agnes's apprentice.

What follows is nothing like the fairy tales.

Instead of spells and flying brooms, Catlin learns unsettling lessons about science, healing, friendship, revenge, and the hidden costs of getting what you want. As she struggles with telepathy, school bullies, science fairs, lawsuits, magical bargains, and her growing power, Catlin begins to wonder whether Agnes is truly wicked or whether the real danger lies in the choices people make when they are hurt.

But every lesson comes with a price.

And when Catlin finally inherits the witch's mantle, she must decide what kind of witch she will become: one who curses, one who heals, or something entirely new.
