Azura prepares for her dawning, knowing it could change her forever. Becoming an elder means gaining untamed powers that she may not be able to control. She is still fighting against the bond she formed with Erik when he saved her life, but a life with him does not seem possible either. The sea witch still wants her dead, so she must return to the water.

When she loses control of her powers, Azura has no choice but to seek out Erik and ask for his help. Together they search for an ancient sea god called Mannanan who may be able to help her regain control. If they do not perish at sea first...
