Jaicimus is relieved when Gwyn returns to him after over a year of being swept across the world by Nostradus, and the war efforts against Jaicimus' father are put on pause. The soldiers of Limbo and Hell begin to focus on keeping Gwyn and both kingdoms safe, even as Jaicimus realizes that Gwyn might not be the same person he knew when she was taken from him.

Billy picks up the slack in command so that Jaicimus can see to Gwyn's emotional and mental health. Billy isn't aware that his own wife, Kara, is keeping something important from him. Nostradus rallies his forces, gathering power that no one can fathom. Between Kara's secrets, and Gwyn's desire to deal with Nostradus in her own way, a new threat arises that no one can anticipate:
