A mother lives an upper class and showy life, dedicated to her social standing, while her daughter marries a man in trouble with the law, just to break away. She enters a life of struggle and conflicting values as she tries to uphold their love. He commits a crime that is too close to home. When their baby is born she still has the challenge of staying free from her mother's grip while facing his demons.
