Dawn of Legend: Dragon Dusk Book 1 (Dragon Shifter Romance)
Publisher Description
An obscure legend speaks of a man with dragon wings. Fifteen hundred years ago the man ventured into our world searching for a companion, but none could be found. He left a statue of his likeness in the keep of the castle in the hopes that one day his companion would come to him.
Christine wasn’t one to believe in legends, and certainly not on her trip through the wilds of Wales. The tour package her friend picked out for them brought them to the castle where the winged figure stood, encased in stone and superstition. Superstition, however, couldn’t explain the strange attraction she felt toward the handsome statue. Those stone eyes seemed to beckon to her, calling her to him with a force she couldn’t deny, and which she wasn’t sure she wanted to.
A haunting dream and a single touch, and she’s transported into a new world and a new life. Helplessness and confusion grip her heart as she finds herself under the power of the dragon, but there’s something in his eyes that pleads with her to remain. Will her desire to return home triumph, or will she accept the fate that's been offered to her?

Romance-baiting Fantasy
This book is the first in a series. Billed as a “romance”, it’s a High Fantasy adventure with a touch here & there of Slooooooooow Burn.
No obvious triggers, but if portals to other worlds, the concept of a “heaven” type thing, magic, curses, & The Straights aren’t your thing, give this a pass.
Characters of Colour?
None! No excuses for this at all!!
GLITTFAB/Queer characters?
Nope! Two very straight possibilities lined up, & gosh, the glacial pace of THOSE!
There’s a tease, at the beginning, with shadows & lust & all kinds of delights. But then… nothing.
Disabled characters?
Absolutely not. Why spoil a good cis-het white fantasy with any sort of diversity?
Worth my time?
I mean it’s got potential.
The magic system is honestly stunning, though are magic users Arthylis or Arthylisis?
There are a few mind-bending grammatical errors, but it’s honestly a super cool premise that’s being drawn out in an interesting way.
Just with a milquetoast cast.
Re-read?
At 2.5 hours read time, it’s not very long. I could read it easily while my overly-curious, stealthy as heck niblings are around. But for the hell of it? Despite the cool as heck magic system, prooooobably not.
Recommend?
To young adults who enjoy fantasy, to people looking for a cool magic system. Not for romance readers!
