When a range detective from the Cattleman’s Association turns up slung across the back of his horse like a piece of dead meat with a couple of bullet holes in him, Jim Benbow figures he’s got trouble. Benbow reckons Cash Gore is behind both the rustlin’ and the murder. And rumor has it that Benbow’s friend Clay Brand is working for Gore. But friend or not, no one cheats Benbow of The Hat. If any sidewinder tries it, he’ll get justice from a bullet or a hangman’s knot.
